Someone Else's Superstars

Last night, I attended a concert at the local casino. Free seats from my friend, who was in town to watch her former-rock-star son put on an acoustic show with 3 other lead singers from 3 other 90's era rock bands.

The average age of the audience was 10 to 20 years younger than me. And they knew all of the words to all of the songs. I knew 2 of the tunes from the entire night of music (30 songs in the show!).

The guys on stage were warm and engaging and funny. Treated the crowd like old friends. Got rowdy a couple of times when people shouted out requests. F-words flew in solidarity.

It made me think about my journey this life. The musicians I've loved, the concerts I've attended and the songs I sang along with, knowing every word.

But not this show. These were someone else's superstars.
